Joint Concert Featuring Wind Symphonic Bands from Hong Kong and Japan -Aug 31, 2026

The first half of the concert will showcase independent performances by each band, allowing the audience to experience the unique style and character of both ensembles. In the second half, the two groups will unite as a grand symphonic band for a joint performance. As a celebration of intercultural exchange, approximately 60 musicians will take the stage together, filling the hall with a dinamic and harmonious sound.

Band Profiles

TheTwistmen Winds -from Hong Kong-

Established in 2018, TheTwistmen Winds (“TTM Winds”) regularly arranges and releases a wide variety of musical genres tailored for wind symphonic bands. Actively participating in both online and offline concerts and competitions worldwide, the group continues to promote the diverse appeal of wind symphonic music from Hong Kong to the world, moving far beyond the boundaries of classical music. Over the years since their founding, they have achieved notable successes including:

– Malaysia International Virtual Band Competition (MIVBC): Achieved the overall championship, along with gold and silver awards, in 2021 and 2022.
– World Association of Marching Show Bands (WAMSB) Championship (West Virginia, USA): Invited as Asia’s representative in 2023, securing 3rd place in the Concert Band Competition.
– World Youth Music Festival (Zurich, Switzerland): Awarded a bronze medal in 2024.

Recently, the ensemble has focused on arranging Japanese pop pieces. In August 2025, TTM Winds held a joint concert with a local wind symphonic band in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, sharing Hong Kong artists’ fresh interpretations of Japanese music with the Japanese audience.

Niconico Sounds in Brass -from Japan-

Niconico Sounds in Brass (“NNSB”) began its journey in 2013 as a sheet music production project dedicated to creating wind symphonic arrangements of Japanese pop culture works, including anime, video games, and VOCALOID tracks.

The following year, it expanded into a project-based wind symphonic band, launching live performance activities. NNSB has since driven a dynamic performance career both in Japan and internationally, achieving milestones such as delivering the first-ever large-scale live wind performance at a Sanrio theme park, and performing as an invited guest at major music festivals in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Zhengzhou (China).

In 2016, the ensemble hosted its first self-produced domestic concert in Japan, “#NNSB Kawasaki,” which received high acclaim from numerous wind music enthusiasts and industry professionals.

Although its activities were temporarily paused due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, NNSB made a spectacular comeback in 2025 after a seven-year hiatus. In August of that year, they performed at the APBDA (Asian Pacific Band Directors’ Association) conference in Singapore, followed by an appearance at the ABCF (Asia Band & Choral Festival) in Hong Kong in December, with both international performances earning critical acclaim.

In January of 2026, NNSB successfully held its second self-produced domestic concert, “#NNSB Saitama.” As a project-based band, rather than a permanent ensemble, activities are non-periodic, but NNSB plans to continue its passionate endeavors into the future.
